Home Hospitality

Home Hospitality80 Japanese Scout & Leaders came to Herefordshire & Worcestershire for Home Hospitality with Scouting families after the World Jamboree.

Troop 8 and Troop 9 of Japan’s World Scout Jamboree Contingents were welcomed by County Commissioner Jenny Newman on 8th August at Worcester Rugby Club.

They were given a guided tour of the Club before linking up with the 40 families with whom they would spend the next 3 days.

Although there was apprehension about issues of language, food and what to do, these had long faded away on return to Worcester Rugby Club on Saturday 11th August for the Japanese to begin their journey home.

“When can we do it again”, “It’s been a most amazing and enjoyable experience”, “I can’t believe they’ve only been with us for three days, it feels like their part of the family” were just a few of the many comments from host families.

In the picture the Japanese Scouts are doing the equivalent of a Scouting ‘Bravo’ for their Herefordshire & Worcestershire hosts.

As the 1pm departure for Heathrow approached, there were widespread embraces, hugs and lots of tears (English & Japanese).
