Operation Bald Eagle
Friday evening, 12th October 2007, saw around 315 Gloucestershire, Herefordshire & Worcestershire Scouts and their Leaders descend on Ashton-under-Hill and pitch their tents on the playing fields of Bredon Hills Middle School.
The unseasonably warm weather continued on the Saturday for the 30 challenge bases.
Scouts dashed around desperately trying to cover all the bases in the allotted time.
Evening descended and the teams plus a map were bussed off to the Hills for the nightime hike interspersed with more activity bases.
Hereford & Worcestershire County Commissioner visited some of the bases during the evening.
Radio contact was maintained with all bases and marshalls until about 01:00 by which time flashing torches had ceased as ALL Scouts had returned safely, smiling and singing their way back to camp. A very quiet night then followed !!
Many people contributed to the event, Leaders, Parents, Fellowship members, Bredon School and their Caretaker, and some adults who were just cajoled into it and of course the Scouts themselves without their help and enthusiasm it wouldn’t have happened.
"A very big thankyou to everyone involved."
