England CCs Meeting

We recognise that as a County Commissioner it sometimes feels difficult and frustrating.  Even though we all have HQ appointments and are therefore part of HQ, it doesn’t always feel like that for people.  This is something that we are keen to start to address.  As a first step, we would therefore like to invite you to a Team England day at Caunton Manor on 22nd October 2016.  The event is exclusively for CC’s to attend alongside ourselves and has two key priorities:

(1)    Networking – Getting to know our ‘nearest neighbours’ who we can share ideas and information with.  Nearest neighbours are not necessarily those we sit next to geographically, rather those we have the most in common with.  For example, one CC once said to us, “I was experiencing a lot of significant growth now I seem to have plateaued.  I would love to be able to talk to a county that went through that so I can hear what they did to move the county to the next level”.  As another example, maybe the four Islands have a lot of things in common they could talk through but sit in three different regions so have limited opportunity to do this.  Historically, there has been little chance for us all to really connect with each other as a full team and we hope to change this.

(2)    Sharing ideas – This is definitely not a talking shop or everyone being expected to sit and listen to lots of presentations about what they should be doing.  This is about everyone being in the trenches together with shared common goals and having the ability to talk through the things that have worked really well for them and the things that keep them awake at night so that everyone feels they have gone home with some new tools for their tool kit.  Where the difficult areas exist, it is about finding key action points that can be taken locally or at HQ to make everyone’s lives easier.

We want this to be a completely relevant and useful event for you so would be really grateful if you fed back any topics that you would like to be discussed (to me directly - Dan). We can use this to pull the agenda for the day together.
