Hagley Ramblers Fundraising

Hagley Rambler Scouts - Charity Event in the Park at Hagley Hall

Hagley Hall

On Sunday 28th June the Park at Hagley Hall will be the venue for an event for all the family in aid of Hagley Rambler Scouts.

The Park is currently undergoing restoration work to restore it to its magnificent eighteenth century glory (as it would have been seen by famous names of the time including Horace Walpole and Alexander Pope).  Visitors will be able to explore the Park at their leisure, ahead of its formal opening to the public later this year, taking in the lakes, deer park, rotunda and folly castle.

The day will also feature an exciting Viking re-enactment group including fully costumed warriors in an authentic Viking battle, a tented living history display showcasing typical Viking crafts such as metalworking and woodcarving.  Come and see the way the Vikings made their swords, prepared their meals and went into battle.  There will be opportunities for audience participation – if you dare!

Other activities include a quiz trail, childrens crafts and games, face-painting and a bouncy castle.  Have a go at bushcrafting activities and find out what Scouting is all about! Hot food, cakes and other refreshments will be available.

All proceeds from the day will go towards re-building the Scout Hut (in Hagley).  Hagley Ramblers is a thriving Scout group, extremely popular in the village, with many sections over-subscribed. (It provides a valuable opportunity for children to learn new skills and experience activities such as hiking, camping, backwoods cooking etc as well as having lots of fun). The existing hut is in constant use and urgently in need of replacement.  A new hut would provide a clean, modern base for the Scouting and Guiding movements but also for other community activities.
